Day 1: Florence (1 night) Arrive into Florence and transfer to your hotel. Once settled in, explore this historic city or spend some time admiring the Florence Cathedral.
Day 2: Pisa (1 night) After breakfast in the hotel, explore the city a little more then hop on your one hour train journey through the countryside to Pisa. When you arrive, check-in to your new hotel before soaking up the city’s vibrant energy. The university has been a staple in the city since the 14th century and remains a prized institution across Italy. At the Piazza dei Miracoli, you'll find the expansive square – home to the renowned Leaning Tower, but also the sensational 11th century Pisa Cathedral.
Day 3: Lucca (2 nights)
We’re on the train again today, leaving Pisa behind for the medieval walled city of Lucca, where 39 foot tall walls stretch for 2.5 miles bordering the historic city centre.
Enjoy Lucca at your leisure. Take the time to savour the taste of your morning coffee and images of the Renaissance structures enlivening the cityscape. Venture north of the city to the town of Carrara, renowned for being the quarry site for Carrara marble with almost 5,000 acres of marble quarried from the Apuane Alps since the Roman Empire. This marble remains the worlds most pure and sought-after shining stone and it was in Carrara that Michelangelo chose the gigantic stone from which to carve his iconic David masterpiece. Visit the Studi di Scultura Carlo Nicoli to gain a unique look into the millennium-old tradition of sculpting.
Day 5: San Gimignano (1 night) Today, you head south to the Chianti region and the sweeping vineyards and dramatic towers of San Gimignano. Stroll up the inclined walkway through the city gates and enter the historic streets. From the centre of the city you can see the top of numerous square towers peeking through the top of the buildings and creating the unique skyline. Once you’ve become familiar with the picturesque hill town of San Gimignano, retire to your hotel to get a good rest for the evening.
Day 6: Siena (1 night) Jump in your taxi and board the train to the south to the picturesque Tuscan town of Siena with its historic city centre that resembles a medieval city frozen in time. Visit the Gothic tower of Torre del Mangia, which, at 318ft high, is visible from the rolling hills around the city. Tuck into some pasta or pizza in one of the cafes the city’s main square. If you are a wine lover head further south to visit one of the famous wineries.
Day 7: Florence (1 night)
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel as the morning light shines through the rose window of the Siena Cathedral before returning to where this trip began – in the vibrant, enchanting city of Florence.
Day 8: Return to Florence airport Shuttle included to the airport
